Nace en Cádiz en 1939, hijo de José Galván Rodríguez, destacado encuadernador artístico del S. XX. Junto con su hermano mayor, Antonio, se incorpora al taller de su padre en 1948, llegando a ser José un experto maestro del pintado de papeles al baño, o marmoleado, papeles que luego emplean en sus propias encuadernaciones y que son muy solicitados y apreciados.

He was born in Cadiz in 1939, son of José Galván Rodríguez, an out-standing artistic bookbinder of the S. XX. Together with his older brother, Antonio, they join the workshop of their father in 1948, becoming José a main expert and master of the painting of papers in the bath, or marbling, papers that they use in their own bindings and that are much requested and appreciated.
